Abhijit V. Banerjee is the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at MIT and a co-founder of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). He is a preeminent authority on development economics, renowned for his pioneering use of randomized controlled trials. In 2019, Banerjee was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his transformative experimental approach to alleviating global poverty and improving the lives of the world’s poorest populations.
