Esther Duflo is a French-American economist and the Abdul Latif Jameel Professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at MIT. As a co-founder of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), she is a leading authority on global poverty. In 2019, she received the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for her experimental approach to poverty alleviation, becoming the youngest person to win the honor. Her work utilizes randomized control trials to design and evaluate effective social policies.
