Jon Kabat-Zinn is an American professor emeritus of medicine and the creator of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). He is widely considered a leading authority on mindfulness for his work in integrating Buddhist teachings with modern scientific findings to help patients cope with stress, pain, and illness. With a PhD in molecular biology from MIT, he founded the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, pioneering the secular mindfulness movement globally.
