Joseph J. Thorndike is a prominent tax historian and the director of the Tax History Project at Tax Analysts. He is a leading authority on the political economy of U.S. fiscal policy, particularly 20th-century taxation. A visiting scholar at the University of Virginia and a fellow of the George W. Bush Institute, Thorndike is the author of “Their Fair Share: Taxing the Rich in the Age of FDR” and a frequent contributor to Tax Notes Federal.
