Joseph J. Thorndike is a prominent tax historian and the director of the Tax History Project at Tax Analysts. He is a leading authority on the political economy of U.S. fiscal policy, particularly 20th-century taxation. A visiting scholar at the University of Virginia and a fellow of the George W.
